The Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit (DMRT)
The Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Project shall be Bangladesh’s first-ever metro rail; together with a separate BRT (Bus Rapid Transit) system. It was approved by the Honorable Prime Minister on June 26, 2016, and is a part of the 20-year long Strategic Transport Plan (STP) chalked out by the Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA). The 20.5-kilometer Shibbari-Airport route shall host 25 stoppages, 6 flyovers, and a 4.5-kilometer elevated road from Uttara to Tongi.
First Dhaka Elevated Expressway (FDEE)
The Dhaka Elevated Expressway is Bangladesh’s first elevated expressway project. Planned to be
46.73 kilometers long, it shall connect the Shahjalal International Airport with Kutubkhali (via
Mohakhali, Tejgaon and Kamalapur). It is considered as one of the largest infrastructure projects
taken up by the Government of Bangladesh to also ease traffic congestion in the capital city.
